If you are visiting this site from AOL, most graphics from the web are compressed on your system and do not look as the designer intended. You can usually avoid this by following this procedure: Go to "My AOL", then to preferences, click on the "WWW" button, then from the box that comes up, choose the "Web Graphics" tab. Click on to UNCHECK the box for "use compressed graphics". You must then clear your browser's cache! or your browser will show you the website's pages from memory, not a fresh copy of the page.

DJW were the AV consultant and installer of both the time-travelling Wildscreen, and the highly interactive Explore, which demonstrates the workings of the human body and brain.
High on the wall in Wildscreen is the spectacular "Tree of Life", a focal point to the whole exhibition. Two overlapping front projection video shows with lighting and smoke effects, are synchronised with an underlying 18 channel audio track which can be heard throughout the gallery.
The Botanical House has four audio jungle zones, representing South American, African, Malaysian and night-time jungles. Seventy BOSE 151 loudspeakers are hidden amongst the tropical plants, shrubs and trees - with 90 percent humidity, high acidity and 30 degree heat this required the waterproof model.
The sound is generated by 18 Maris Liberty polyphonic digital sound stores and controlled by 5 Maris Stingers which, collectively, determine which of the jungle themed zones is to be played, which samples are to be used and the sequence and timing of each zone.
The most spectacular audio effect created is the deep bass sound of thunder rumbling throughout the botanical enclosure, which was achieved by using Libertys and Stingers to move sound from channel to channel, thus giving the auditory effect of thunder moving through the jungle environment.
This sound effect is further enhanced by the use of nine sub-bass BOSE 502B Panaray loudspeakers, thus creating a physical effect to compliment the auditory stimulus, thereby creating a memorable effect for the visitor.
