If you are visiting this site from AOL, most graphics from the web are compressed on your system and do not look as the designer intended. You can usually avoid this by following this procedure: Go to "My AOL", then to preferences, click on the "WWW" button, then from the box that comes up, choose the "Web Graphics" tab. Click on to UNCHECK the box for "use compressed graphics". You must then clear your browser's cache! or your browser will show you the website's pages from memory, not a fresh copy of the page.
RECOMMENDED: V4.0 browsers. 1024x768+

DJW teamed up with Haley Sharpe to present an experience to encompass the ancient history of Sharjah, as the Archaeology Museum; and impressively ornate purpose built structure, in the city of Sharjah.
An introductory video tells of the complex interaction between man and the environment, which has shaped this ancient history. It is then you approach the first of six 'time-gates', an imposing structure transporting you from time zone to time zone.
An introductory video tells of the complex interaction between man and the environment, which has shaped this ancient history. It is then you approach the first of six 'time-gates', an imposing structure transporting you from time zone to time zone.
Each time zone begins with an explanatory video, and is then segmented to cover each of six areas: environment, diet, buildings, technology, art and rituals and trade.
The whole experience is very atmospheric; with subdued lighting and Arabic music, imitation cave paintings, desert sand and palm trees, all combined with the technologies of video, sound, lighting and computer interactives to greatly increase the interest and understanding of the ancient history of Sharjah and the Emirates.
