If you are visiting this site from AOL, most graphics from the web are compressed on your system and do not look as the designer intended. You can usually avoid this by following this procedure: Go to "My AOL", then to preferences, click on the "WWW" button, then from the box that comes up, choose the "Web Graphics" tab. Click on to UNCHECK the box for "use compressed graphics". You must then clear your browser's cache! or your browser will show you the website's pages from memory, not a fresh copy of the page.
RECOMMENDED: V4.0 browsers. 1024x768+

The Royal Marines Museum at Eastney Barracks takes the visitor through the story of Britain's "Sea Soldiers", their explorations of the world, battles of war and modern day conflicts. The AV show begins the story using video projection of black and white still pictures.
Background sound effects are used to give a realistic 'jungle feel' for the Jungle Warfare area. A screen is cleverly hidden amongst jungle foliage showing archive film footage of soldiers in the jungle, highlighting the hazards of heat, humidity and disease during their battles in the Burma Campaign.
A 'talking-head' tells the story of Hannah Snell, the first female Marine, who kept her gender a secret during her service with the Marines. A video of an animated face is projected onto the model telling the story to create the illusion that it is talking to you.
